Golden Xbox

No idea why anyone would have any use for this... but now you can buy a super ugly gold plated Xbox (with two controllers).

Personally, I'm waiting for the solid gold edition. heh

Crazy eBay Lady

This is quite possibly the funniest (scary because it's true) thing I've ever seen...

Crazy eBay Lady

Update... The URL has moved to a new domain that looks oddly familiar. {rolls eyes}

Access eBay On Your Television

SCP Private Equity Partners, a private equity firm that invests in companies in high growth industries, announced that its portfolio company, BIAP Systems, Inc., has brought interactivity to television through partnerships with Time Warner Cable and eBay.

Through the use of BIAP's "intelligent agent software technology," cable subscribers in the US will now have the ability to access eBay directly from their home TVs.

BIAP's "eBay on TV" allows registered eBay users to check the status of their accounts and submit bids using their existing set-top boxes and remotes. Alerts will be posted on subscribers' screens if they have been outbid or have won an auction - all in real time and from any channel. The service comes at no additional cost to cable subscribers and is accessible through a simple on-screen sign in process.

eBay on TV has been pilot tested by Time Warner in Austin, Texas with great success and is now rolling it out to all digital cable subscribers in Austin. BIAP is also in discussions with other major cable companies who are interested in bringing interactivity to their customers.

eBay Buys More Classified Sites

eBay Inc. has acquired two European classified ads sites, a continuation of the online auction company's international expansion.

The online auction company said its international classifieds group Kijiji had bought London-based Gumtree.com and Loquo.com, based in Barcelona, Spain. Financial terms were not disclosed, but eBay said the acquisitions were not expected to have an impact on its 2005 revenues or earnings.

Gumtree.com, which offers lists on apartment rentals, jobs and goods and services, has sites that cover cities in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, eBay said. Loquo.com is "community-focused" focused site, specializing in housing, personals, employment and items for sale. Loquo.com covers multiple cities in Spain, as well as in other European countries.

Kidney Transplant

Thanks to his girlfriend, Alan Vaughan of the United Kingdom was catapulted to the top of the kidney transplant list, and even had NHS pick up the transplant costs.

His girlfriend, Kelly Hollier, posted an ad on eBay to raise money for the transplant by selling a "slice of their happiness".

Disneyland Tiki Room

An original 1962 tiki from Disneyland's Tiki Room is for sale on eBay right now with a buy it now price of $7,000.

I kind of doubt any crazy fool would pay anything remotely close to that, but hey... you never know.

If you want to check out the auction, click here.

Chimp's Art For Auction

Congo the chimpanzee is selling some modern art that is expecting to bring in around $1,500 next month when it goes up for auction at Bonhams Modern and Contemporary sale.

I guess art being more value when the artist dies is true even for monkeys, considering they were painted back in 1957 (they did over 400 of them in a 2 year span).

Power Outage Hits eBay

Last night eBay was down for 6 hours due to a power outage at their hosting facility in San Francisco. A 6 hour outage for eBay works out to about $4,000,000 in lost revenue. Ouch.

Maybe time for them to think about geographically redundant servers? :)

Paris Hilton's Razor

Uhm... people need to chill out on following celebrities (although I guess I'm not helping right now, am I?... whatever, do as I say, not as I do!).

Anyway, some housekeeper for a hotel that Paris Hilton was staying at snatched her left behind razor, and you can now buy it on eBay with a starting bid of $627 (pretty random opening bid if you ask me).

But if you are a crazy Paris Hilton follower, you can own her used razor now.

Runaway Bride On Toast

A man has found (okay, he drew) Jennifer Wilbank's portrait on his toast (she of course is the famed "runaway bride").

Normally, something that idiotic wouldn't be worth mentioning, but the amazing part is that it's received 116 bids so far, with the high bid currently sitting at $16,100, with 36 hours left on the auction.

If you want to look for yourself, click here.

Date With Carmen Electra For Auction On eBay

Carmen Electra is going on a "dream date" with the winning bidder of this auction. It's sponsored by TAG body spray and 100% of the proceeds are going to charity.

I don't know what else to say about this one, except go bid fool! Bidding closes in 27 hours, and bidding is currently up to $22,600.

Pope's Old Car Sold On eBay

A Volkswagen Golf that was once owned by Pope Benedict was sold by the current German owner for $244,800 to a US buyer.

Without even looking, I knew who the buyer was (and I was right)... Golden Palace Casino (imagine that).

The vehicle itself has 47,000 miles on it and is pretty standard (A/C, alarm, etc.)

Truthfully, I never would have thought Volkswagen Golfs hold their resale value so well.

Paula Abdul & Corey Clark Go Crackers

Someone has created a collectable saltine cracker with the lifelike depictions of Paula Abdul and Corey Clark falling in love.

In case you don't know, Corey Clark is the American Idol that was kicked out because of some previous criminal history (I don't know specifically was it was, nor do I care enough to find out). Now he is trying to become famous again by telling everyone he did the nasty with Paula Abdul. There even was some special about it on TV this week (darn, I missed it though).

Anyway, if you are interested in this thing, you can find it here.
